Murphy Law Firm announces that a settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Carvin Wilson Software, LLC (“Carvin”) for a data security incident (the “Data Security Incident”) wherein one or more unauthorized individuals infiltrated Carvin’s computer network and gained accessed to the personal information of tens of thousands of individuals.
Under the settlement, all affected individuals may submit a claim to receive one or more of the following benefits: (1) compensation for lost time of up to four hours at $20 per hour; (2) compensation for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred as a result of the Data Security Incident, up to a maximum of $8,500 per person; (3) two years of three-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft protection with $1 million in insurance; and (4) a pro rata cash payment from the common fund. In addition, the settlement requires Carvin to implement and maintain meaningful business changes to improve its data security practices.
