Young Consulting provides risk management services to Blue Shield of California and, in that capacity, receives the personal information of Blue Shield of California customers. On April 13, 2024, Young Consulting detected suspicious activity on its computer network, indicating a data breach. Based on a subsequent forensic investigation, Young Consulting determined that cybercriminals infiltrated its inadequately secured computer systems and thereby gained access to its network from April 10, 2024 through April 13, 2024. Through this infiltration, it was determined that cybercriminals potentially accessed and acquired files containing the sensitive personal information of 954,177 individuals.
The information exposed in the data breach includes, but is not limited to:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Health insurance claim information
As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the Young Consulting data breach. We are evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
