On or around May 29, 2023, Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company (“Talcott”) confirmed an unauthorized actor gained access to its customers sensitive information. The unauthorized access occurred through the use of the MOVEit transfer tool used by Talcott’s third-party service provider, PBI Research Services.
Did You Receive a Data Breach Letter From Talcott?
Through a subsequent investigation, Talcott determined that the data accessed by cybercriminals included the personal identifying information of approximately 552,821 individuals, including:
- Social Security numbers
As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
