St. Joseph’s College of Maine (“St. Joseph’s”) recently detected suspicious activity on its computer network, indicating a data breach. Based on a subsequent forensic investigation, St. Joseph’s determined that unauthorized cybercriminals gained access to St. Joseph’s network and data files from December 15, 2023, and January 24, 2024. The investigation further determined that, through this infiltration, cybercriminals potentially accessed files containing the sensitive personal information of 126,580 individuals.
As a result of the St. Joseph’s College of Maine data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
