Sequoia Benefits and Insurance Data Breach

On November 17, 2022, Sequoia Benefits and Insurance Services LLC (“Sequoia”) became aware of a suspicious cybersecurity incident involving its network, indicating a likely data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, Sequoia confirmed that cybercriminals had infiltrated its systems and had unauthorized access to certain sensitive information, including the personal information of 580,818 individuals.

The personal information exposed to cybercriminals during the data breach includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Addresses
  • Date of Birth
  • Marital status
  • Email addresses
  • Medical information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
