Managed Care of North America Data Breach

On March 6, 2023, Managed Care of North America, Inc. (“MCNA”) detected unusual activity on its internal network, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, MCNA confirmed that unauthorized cybercriminals were able to access certain systems and remove copies of files between February 26, 2023 and March 7, 2023. MCNA further determined that the files accessed and removed by unauthorized cybercriminals contained the personal information of at least 8,923,662 individuals.

The personal information accessed by cybercriminals in the data breach includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Addresses
  • Telephone numbers
  • Health insurance information
  • Treatment information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
