Behavioral Health Group Data Breach Exposes Patient Information

On December 5, 2021, BHG Holdings, LLC dba Behavioral Health Group (“Behavioral Health Group” or “BHG”) became aware of a likely data breach involving its network. Based on a forensic investigation, BHG confirmed that cybercriminals had infiltrated its systems and gained unauthorized access to certain files, including files containing patients’ personal and protected health information. According to Behavioral Health Group, cybercriminals accessed or acquired the personal and protected health information of 197,507 individuals.

  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Payment card information
  • Diagnosis and treatment information
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly sensitive information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
