On June 6, 2022, Boeing Employees’ Credit Union (“BECU”) was advised of a data security breach involving its printing vendor, whereby cybercriminals gained unauthorized access to files potentially containing confidential information of BECU members. Based on a subsequent forensic investigation, BECU confirmed that cybercriminals accessed or acquired the personal information of 344,725 of its members.

According to BECU, the personal information compromised in the data breach includes:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Account numbers
- Addresses
- Credit Score
As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly sensitive information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
