On June 15, 2026, Baylor Genetics (“Baylor Genetics”) became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network, indicating a data breach. Based on a subsequent forensic investigation, Baylor Genetics determined that cybercriminals infiltrated this inadequately secured network and gained access to its files between June 11, 2026 and June 17, 2026. The investigation further determined that, through this infiltration, cybercriminals potentially accessed and/or acquired files containing the sensitive personal information of thousands of individuals.
The personal information exposed in the data breach includes:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Financial account information
- Debit/credit card information
- Driver’s license numbers
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Other personal information
As a result of the Baylor Genetics data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
