Sysco Data Breach

On March 5, 2023, Sysco Corporation (“Sysco”) became aware of a cybersecurity event perpetrated by a threat actor, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, Sysco confirmed that unauthorized cybercriminals gained access to its computer system beginning on January 14, 2023. Sysco further confirmed that the accessed systems contained the electronically stored personal information of at least 126,243 individuals.

The personal information accessed by cybercriminals in the data breach includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial information
  • Other personal information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
