On or about March 31, 2023, Phoenician Medical Center and its affiliate Phoenix Neurological & Pain Institute and Laser Surgery Center (“PMC”) detected unusual activity on its internal network, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, PMC confirmed that cybercriminals accessed and/or acquired certain files on its system. PMC further determined that the files accessed or acquired by cybercriminals included the sensitive personal information of more than 162,000 patients.

- Diagnosis and treatment information
- Prescription information
- Health insurance information
- Contact information
As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
